CBPD Members Complete Intervention Training March 13, 2019

On Friday, March 8, 2019, four new members of the Coos Bay Police Department completed 40 hours of Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) and became CIT Certified. Police Officers Wes O’Conner, Jordan Waddington, Jerad Jaehnig along with Dispatcher Shannon Miller received specialized training in how to interact with people going through a mental health crisis. This training is hosted by Coos Health and Wellness with assistance from the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training and area agencies.

At the graduation Ceremony, Coos Bay Police Officer Tom Lindahl received recognition as CIT Officer of the Year. Officer Lindahl was nominated by his peers for his outstanding service within our community. This award was one of two given through-out the entire county. Officer Lindahl was recognized for the way he has taken the skills he learned from the CIT course he attended in the past and applied them when dealing with the mentally ill members of our community. Officer Lindahl has definitely gone “above and beyond” the normal call of duty. Good job Officer Lindahl.
