Council Approves Eagle Scout Project for Mingus Park March 07, 2018
The City Council recently approved a proposal from Dilyn Baumgardner to install a flagpole near the main entry into Mingus Park as an Eagle Scout Service Project. Baumgardner, who is nearly eighteen, has been involved in the Boy Scout Program since he was 10-years-old. He has earned numerous merit badges over the years as well as the rank of Life Scout, a prerequisite of being eligible to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
Eagle Scout is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program. The requirements necessary to achieve this rank take years to fulfill. Requirements include earning at least 21 merit badges and undertaking an extensive service project which the Scout must plan, organize, lead, and manage.
