Library to Remain Closed Through Phase One May 20, 2020

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Coos Bay Public Library is temporarily closed to the public. The Library has an average attendance of 600 people a day, making it difficult to implement the recommended public health guidance regarding social distancing and other safety recommendations. Out of an abundance of caution for the public and staff, the Coos Bay Public Library will remain closed to the public during Phase I Reopening. In addition, there will be no in-person programming or use of meeting rooms during this time. 

The Library offers digital services such as Library2Go, hoopla, Tumblebooks, and reference databases. These services provide e-books, audio books, movies, television, and more. The Library is mailing physical materials to Coos Bay and Allegany residents. Call 541-269-1101 Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. for more information and to reserve items. Items may also be placed on hold using the online catalog, The Library is extending loan periods and no fines will be assessed during the closure period. The Library’s book drop is open. However, it is not necessary to return items that you have checked out until the library reopens. Library programs for youth and adults are available online.
