Newest Firefighters Complete Orientation Academy May 30, 2018

On May 29, Probationary Firefighters Anthony Saccente and Braden Linkenheimer were sworn in by Fire Chief Mark Anderson and received their badges in a ceremony held at the main Coos Bay Fire Station. The “Pinning Ceremony” signifies a successful completion of a month-long Orientation Academy and honors the two Firefighters for their hard work and determination in completing their academy.

During the month of May, Linkenheimer and Saccente worked to refine their firefighting, driving, and fire engine operation skills. They were rigorously tested on a regular basis to ensure their knowledge and abilities were sufficient enough to be put into the shift rotation alongside the Department’s other career Firefighters.

Although their orientation academy has ended, their probationary period is far from over. Over the next 11 months, these firefighters will work with their shifts performing fire company evolutions to continue to hone their skills and become part of the team. We are excited to welcome these two new Firefighters into the Department.
