Sirens on Independence Day July 09, 2020
With current restrictions in place in Oregon due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Coos Bay was forced to cancel the annual Fourth of July Celebration at Mingus Park and the Fireworks Over the Bay. However, the Coos Bay Police and Fire departments came up with a way to celebrate and connect with the community during the Independence Day holiday. Police and Fire department personnel traveled the streets of Coos Bay playing patriotic themed music and handing out mini U.S. flags all afternoon on July 4. It was great to see so many people coming out to show their support and appreciation.
Coos Bay Firefighters have been putting on the firework show for more than 30 years so this was definitely a big change and they are eager to bring the show back next year.
