Wildfire Safety Reminder September 12, 2020
Officials encouraged all Oregonians to help during the fire emergency we are experiencing in a few key ways:
- Following evacuation directives from local officials and guidance from firefighters.
- Avoiding traveling, especially in areas near the wildfire, for your personal safety and to allow responders to access fires.
- Signing up for the Red Cross Safe and Well system to notify loved ones you are safe.
- Only calling 9-1-1 in case of an emergency, not to report smoke or request information.
Andrew Phelps, director of the Office of Emergency Management, suggested any monetary relief donations be made to the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Team Rubicon, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, or other organizations Wildland Firefighters Fund.
